The Companies search provides criteria for finding a company. This search is useful for finding contacts using basic criteria such as name, type of contact, or address details such as city or state.
For example, a professional might use this form to find companies in a particular city.
The following table summarizes how the criteria fields on the Companies search map to InterAction fields.

| Company | The company name field. This searches both the Company Name and Company Also Known As fields. |
| Contact Type | The contact type. For example, a user can select “Prospect” to find only contacts classified with the prospect contact type. The drop-down list contains all contact types defined in your system that can apply to companies. To customize this list, add or edit the contact types for your environment. |
| Industry |
The Industry additional field in the Company\Person Information folder. By default, this field has the list items described in Industry Additional Field List Items. You can modify these items if needed and any changes will be reflected in the search form. To customize the list, add or edit the list items for the Industry additional field in the Company\Person Information folder. |
| City | The City address field. This finds companies that have a mailing address with the specified city. |
| State/Province | The State/Province address field. This finds companies that have a mailing address with the specified state or province. |
| ZIP Code | The zip / postal code field. This finds companies that have a mailing address with the specified postal code. |
| Country | The Country address field. This finds companies that have a mailing address with the specified country. |
| Include Activities/Appointments in this search | Check box that displays activity criteria fields. This can be used to find companies based on activity criteria. |
