Normally, you cannot change certain options for the variable field extension after saving a new additional field definition. This is because changing these options after the field contains data can cause that data to become invalid.
However, in some cases it is useful to make changes. For example, you might want to see how a format string looks in InterAction, then make changes to the string.
You can “unlock” the Field Extension Settings dialog box to make these changes if necessary. However, you should not do this if many contacts contain data for the field, as that data can be lost.
You must be either the System Administrator User or a user authorized to use the InterAction Administrator product to unlock the dialog box.
Unlock the Field Extension Settings Dialog Box
- In InterAction or InterAction Administrator, open the additional field definition you want to change.
- Choose Settings to open the Field Extension Settings dialog box.
- Choose the Unlock button.
- When prompted, type Yes and choose OK.
