InterAction includes an additional field extension for creating additional fields that allow you to structure the data users enter into multiple fields or “columns.” For example, you might want to store data about a contact’s fluency in languages. This might include the language and the degree to which the person can speak, write, and read in it.
With the variable field extension, you can set up a single additional field to collect all of these items. Windows Client users then enter the data in a dialog box with separate edit boxes for each field. This structure makes it very easy to enter the data correctly.
The data in the separate edit boxes will be combined and displayed in InterAction; you can define how the fields are displayed. You can also search and print the data as needed.
Collecting Multiple "Columns" in an Additional Field
The variable field extension is automatically installed when you install the InterAction Windows client. An additional field extension can be used with both folder-specific and global additional fields. It can also be used to collect a single value or multiple values.
