In order to administer InterAction, you need to have proper access rights to certain tools and clients.
Access to Internet Information Services (IIS)
You need access to IIS on the InterAction Application Server. At times, you may need to troubleshoot issues in IIS and LexisNexis Technical Support may request that you open IIS, send screen shots, for example. These types of issues should be rare, but it is always better to have the access when it is needed.
Application Collaboration
In order to properly administer Application Collaboration, you need access to SQL Server. Typically, Application Collaboration administrators use SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to create transformation packages to transform data from non-InterAction systems into Application Collaboration’s staging tables.
InterAction Database
Your organization may also need to perform the following operations as necessary. If you do not have access for these operations, you need to know who does have this access:
- The sa password for upgrades
- A login that lets you backup the database
- Ability to access the LexisNexis FTP server
- Ability to copy the database backup onto the LexisNexis FTP server
- If providing a copy of your database is not possible, you need an alternate plan for providing LexisNexis Technical Support with remote access to your database
InterAction Administrator Software
You need the IAADMIN password or administrator access assigned to your user account through InterAction Administrator.
InterAction Windows Client
InterAction Windows Client requires these access rights for Administrators:
- The IAADMIN account is required to sign in to the program to perform Administrator duties
- Ability to create a search to find contacts by name or IDs
- Ability to check security rights on folders
- Ability to check the Data Change Management Inbox
To look up a Web Client contact in the Windows Client
Retrieve the contactId from the URL of the Contact Overview in the Web Client.
Plug the contactId into the following URL:
http://<AppServerName>/Interaction/convertdualid?ids=<contactId>For example, http://IAAppServer/Interaction/convertdualid?ids=8589934700 where the Application Server is IAAppServer and the contactId is 8589934700.
The URL returns a Contact ID that can be used in the Windows Client to create a search to find the contact. The Contact ID consists of the numerals after the slash (/).
- Create a new search in the Windows Client by choosing Folder > New Search.
- Choose the Criteria tab.
- Choose the Add button.
Expand Contact Conditions > Object Identifier, select Contact ID and choose OK.
Enter the latter part of the Split Value, the numerals after the slash (/), provided on the Converted Dual Ids page (in Step 2) in the Value box and choose OK.
- Choose Search Now or Save, depending on whether this will be a one-time only or an ongoing search.
