InterAction, InterAction Administrator, and InterAction Process Manager record information about errors in error logs. These files are the following:
| Product | Error Log Filename |
| InterAction | intractn.err |
| InterAction Administrator | iaadmin.err |
| InterAction Process Manager | IntProcessMgr.err |
The error log for each application is stored in the Data directory for the application.
The error logs record information about all unexpected errors. This primarily includes database errors. “Expected” errors, such as an error that occurs if a user attempts to edit a contact that has been deleted by another user are not recorded in the error log.
The most recent error always appears at the end of the file. In some cases, one problem may generate multiple entries in the error log. When troubleshooting, look for blocks of error log entries in the same time period. Sometimes the earlier entries may give more information that is useful when troubleshooting a problem.
All error logs automatically delete entries after a defined number of days. The default number of days is seven, but you can override this by adding to the following setting in the [DEFAULTS] section of the application’s INI file (intractn.ini or iaadmin.ini):
KeepErrorsForXDays=DAYS
Where “DAYS” is the number of days you want to keep the error log entries. In general, the default is best for most client workstations.
