You must have appropriate Folder Management access rights (Add, Edit, and/or Delete Classification Definitions) to a folder in order to be able to manage the classifications for the folder.
In order to manage global classifications, you must be able to log on to InterAction Administrator.
Components of Classification Definition
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The name of the classification. This displays in the Windows Client. |
| Description | A description of the classification. This displays in the Classifications view in the Windows Client. |
| Status |
Global classifications can be either active or inactive. Active classifications can be assigned to contacts. Inactive classifications are hidden and not available. This only applies to global classifications. |
Why Would I Use a Classification?
InterAction offers much better options for collecting contact data than classifications. For example, contact types and folders are the best way to categorize contacts at a global level. Additional fields are more flexible and better for collecting other data. These features offer many other benefits beyond what you can do with classifications.
Classifications can be useful for some simple categorization within a folder. In this case you would create folder-specific classifications. For example, you might use classifications within a marketing list.
