On a regional settings basis, you can determine how surnames are displayed within the InterAction applications as well as how searches are performed on those surnames. This allows region-specific users to view and search for names as they are accustomed.
For example, if Charles van Mitre is a Dutch client of mine, and I am a US-based attorney, I want to see my client’s name displayed in InterAction as van Mitre, Charles for all contact lists. Additionally, when I search for Charles, I want to search for van Mitre to find Charles. Searching for only Mitre in this case would not find Charles.
However, my Dutch colleague, who also works with Charles, may want to take advantage of this option, based on his Dutch, Netherlands regional settings, to exclude van from all searches and displays. Therefore, from his desktop, Charles’ name displays as Mitre, Charles van and he can search for either Mitre or van Mitre to find Charles within InterAction.
