You set the options for an address rule in the Edit Address Rule dialog box.
Address rules apply to all address data sets in a data source.
Options Available in an Address Rule

| Data Source Address Type |
Specifies the name of the address type that you plan to harvest from the external system. The address rule applies to all addresses that have this type. For details, see Mapping Phone and Address Types. |
| InterAction Type |
Specifies the InterAction address location type that should be used for all addresses brought in using this rule. For details, see Mapping Phone and Address Types. |

| Provided from Data Source |
Indicates that Application Collaboration uses a unique identifier from the external system for each address. You need to harvest an address ID for each address. For details, see Identifying Addresses Using a Key Provided by the Data Source. |
| Set Value |
Indicates that Application Collaboration uses a static ID for all addresses from the external system. This option only works if each contact in the external system only has one address of each address type. For details, see Allowing Application Collaboration to Set the Address ID Value. |

| Global |
Indicates that Application Collaboration only creates and updates global addresses. For more information, see Selecting the Address Visibility. |
| Folder |
Indicates that Application Collaboration creates and updates folder-specific addresses. If you select this option, you also need to choose the folder for the addresses. For more information, see Selecting the Address Visibility. |
View the List of Address Rules
To view the list of address rules, select the data source from the console list. The list of address rules displays in the lower-right pane of Application Collaboration.
Create an Address Rule
- Select the data source for the Address Rule from the console list. Address rules are always specific to a data source.

Click
or choose Address Rules > New.
You can also double-click within the address rules pane in the main view.

Enter the name of the Data Source Address Type to map to InterAction. Select the related InterAction Type from the list box.

Under Visibility, select the visibility you want for the addresses. If you select Folder, choose the Browse button to find the folder to use.

- Under Key, select the method for obtaining unique IDs for the addresses.
- If you select Set Value, enter the value in the edit box.

- Choose OK to save the new address rule. The rule is displayed in the Address Rules pane in the main Application Collaboration view
Edit an Address Rule
- Select the data source for the Address Rule from the console list. Address rules are always specific to a data source.

Double-click the Address Rule to edit.
Alternatively, you can select the rule and click the New/Edit Address Rule toolbar button or choose Address Rules > Edit.

Change the fields as needed.

- When you are finished making changes, choose OK.
Delete an Address Rule

Right-click the Address Rule to delete and choose Delete.
Alternatively, you can select the Address Rule and choose Address Rules > Delete.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
