The SQL Results logs all errors that occur during the transformation. If the Summary reports that any errors were found for a data set, you should review the SQL Results to determine the cause of the problem.
The total number of errors in the SQL Results log displays next to the SQL Results item in the console list.
This section covers the following topics:
Viewing the SQL Results
To review the SQL Results, either choose the SQL Results toolbar button, or select the SQL Results item from the console list.
The SQL Results view displays the following for each error:
-
Data source and data set. The data source displays first, separated from the data set by a forward slash (/). For example, an error that occurred in the Company data set of the Accounting System data source displays like this:
Accounting System/Company
- The date the error occurred.
- The text of the error message.
You can view the data for the record that caused the error in a DataTip. When you pause the mouse pointer over a row, the columns and data for the record that caused the error displays. You can also double-click an item to view the details in a dialog box.
Solving Common Errors
Two of the most common errors typically occur together:
- More than one contact exists that matches the map by criteria (occurs on a company or person).
- The external system ids provided for the contact did not match any contact records... (occurs on an address, additional field, or activity).
These two errors occur if a company or person record in the data table matches more than one contact in InterAction. This typically happens when you are mapping by name and more than one contact in InterAction have similar names.
Because Application Collaboration cannot map the contact in InterAction until you reconcile the outstanding claims, any data associated with the company or person also generates an error message. For example, if the company Guru Ltd. could not be added due to the duplicates in InterAction, then the data for this company’s address and additional fields also generates errors.
To solve this problem, you must choose the contact in InterAction to map, then re-transform the address and additional field data.
Reconciling claims is covered in Reconciling Claims.
Other common errors include:
- Attempting to add data without the required values.
- Attempting to add an address with no values.
- Attempting to update an additional field with a list item that does not match one of the list items defined for the field in InterAction.
- Attempting to create an invalid link in InterAction.
Most of these errors are problems you need to correct in the harvesting routine.
