Application Collaboration can transform the data from the external system anytime after it is harvested into the data set tables. Transformation updates InterAction with the harvested data, then purges the data from the data set tables.
You can launch the process from the Application Collaboration client or from a command line. You can also transform an entire data source at once, or do each data set individually.
Before you launch the transformation, you can configure the options summarized in the following table. You set these options in the Options dialog box.
Transformation Options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Messages | The summary information is always recorded in the log file, regardless of this setting. |
| Display messages | Instruct Application Collaboration to display messages on screen. |
| Direct messages to [intiatbc.log] | Instruct Application Collaboration to log all messages to the log file (Intiatbc.log). Directing messages to the log file is useful if you are automating Application Collaboration. |
| Trace | |
| Enable |
Enables a transfer trace to take place during the transformation. If this option is selected, the trace log is saved to the hard drive of the workstation in the file Intiatbc.log. This file is saved to InterAction’s Data directory. By default, the data directory is C:\WINNT\Intrface. The trace log can grow very large. Therefore, you should only select the Trace option if necessary for troubleshooting. The file indicates the name of each stored procedure and the relevant parameter values. |
| Summary | |
| Clear before executing each transaction |
Automatically clears the Summary log before starting each transformation. If this option is not selected, the summary for each transformation is added to the end of the log. Don’t select this option if you don’t review the log immediately after each transformation. For more information about the summary log, see Reviewing the Transformation Summary Results. |
| Location | Specifies the file location where the summary log is stored. You can change this location if necessary. See Change the Location for the Summary File for details. |
| Abort Data Set Transformation | |
| Display alert every (1-1000)...errors | Indicates how often Application Collaboration should display warnings when receiving errors during transformation. |
| Maximum number of errors | Specifies an error threshold. If the number of errors exceeds this threshold, Application Collaboration stops the transformation. |
