The dialog box for creating or editing an additional field data set is basically the same for both single and multiple-value additional fields.
Options Available in an Additional Field Data Set
| Option Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Name |
Specifies the name of the data set. The name must be unique among all data sets in the data source. The name you specify is used in the name of the harvesting table for the data set. See Naming Data Sets. |
| Allow Editing in InterAction |
Indicates whether users in InterAction are able to edit the additional field values in InterAction, provided they have adequate access rights. If this option is not selected, Application Collaboration locks down the additional field values. For more information, see the following: |
| Contacts Folder |
Specifies the folder to use for folder-specific additional fields. Set this to a folder, then select the folder-specific additional field to populate from the list at the bottom of the dialog box. For more information, see Selecting the Additional Fields to Populate |
| Replace Date |
Indicates whether Application Collaboration should completely clear the additional fields you are populating before updating them with the harvested data. This is generally only used in certain situations with multiple-value additional fields. For more information, see the following: |
|
Map Contact Based On Drop-down list |
Specifies the method you want to use to find the InterAction contact to update. There are three methods available in the list:
For more information, see: |

Additional Information to Populate Additional Field Name |
Specifies the additional fields to populate. You can select more than one additional field from the list for a single-value additional field data set; you can only select one for a multiple-value additional field data set or a data set for the variable field additional field extension. Each field becomes a column in the data set table. You harvest the field values into this column. For more information, see Selecting the Additional Fields to Populate |

For instructions to create a data set for multiple-value additional fields, see Create a Multiple-Value Additional Field Data Set.
- Select the data source for the data set from the console list.

For more information, see Naming Data Sets.
-
If you want users to be allowed to edit the data in InterAction, select the Allow Editing in InterAction check box. This only applies to the data brought in using this data set.
For more information, see Control Whether Users Can Edit the Additional Field Data.
-
If you want Application Collaboration to clear the additional field values before populating the fields with the harvested data, select the Replace Data check box.
For more information, see Clearing Additional Field Values Before Updating.

Edit an Additional Field Data Set
Changing the options for an existing data set deletes all data in the corresponding data set table. You need to re-run your harvesting routine to re-populate the table. If changing the options also changes the structure for the table, you also need to revise your harvesting routine.
- Select the data source in which the data set belongs from the console list.
- Right-click the additional field data set (
) or Single Value, Multiple Column Fields data set (
) and choose Edit.
- Change the fields as needed.
- Choose OK.
Control Whether Users Can Edit the Additional Field Data
This option only controls the additional fields populated using the data set.
Changing this option for the data set does not make any contacts previously populated with the data set editable. You must re-harvest the data from the external system and transform it to see the change for existing contacts.
For more information about this option, see Allowing InterAction Users to Edit the Data
- In the console list, right-click the additional field data set (
) or Single Value, Multiple Column Fields data set (
) and choose Edit.
-
Do one of the following:
To Do This Allow InterAction users with appropriate access rights to edit the additional field data from the external system. Select the Allow Editing check box. Lock down the data from the external system, so InterAction users cannot edit it. Clear the Allow Editing check box. - Choose OK.
Delete an Additional Field Data Set
Deleting an existing data set deletes the corresponding data set table. It does not change the data previously imported into InterAction using the data set.
- In the console list, right-click the additional field data set (
) or Single Value, Multiple Column Fields data set (
) and choose Delete.
- When prompted, confirm the delete.
- Update any harvesting routines to remove any references to the corresponding table.
