There are two main components of Application Collaboration - the database component and the client application.
Database Component
The Application Collaboration tables and stored procedures are created as part of initializing a database. These components support the functionality in Application Collaboration. You do not need to make any manual changes to the InterAction database to use Application Collaboration.
Throughout this guide, the term database component is used to refer to the tables and stored procedures supporting Application Collaboration.
Client Application
You use the Application Collaboration client application to configure Application Collaboration. You use this application to define how you want the data in the source system mapped to InterAction fields.
Similar to the InterAction Windows Client or InterAction Administrator client applications, the Application Collaboration client application connects to an InterAction database.
Configuring Application Collaboration creates additional tables in the InterAction database, which you fill with data from the external system during the harvesting process. You then use the client application to transform the data in these tables into InterAction data.
Throughout this guide, the term Application Collaboration generally refers to the client application unless otherwise noted.
