- Review the data source to determine the complexity and quality of the data. This process is similar to the steps you perform for an initial data load. For details, see Identifying Data to Bring into InterAction.
- If the data is in another system, extract the contact information from that system.
- If necessary, review the contact information before bringing it into InterAction to see if the data file requires any modifications before import.
- Load the contact information into InterAction using one or more of the following:
- Import - For more information, see Importing Data into InterAction.
- Advanced Import (Advanced Data Quality Features license required) - For more information, see Updating InterAction Contacts through Advanced Import.
-
Application Collaboration (Advanced Data Quality Features license required). For more information, see How Application Collaboration Works.
When loading new information into InterAction on an ongoing basis, you can use the Advanced Import feature to match and update contacts and contact information. Using the Advanced Import feature, you can apply Data Change Management rules to help manage the way in which contacts already in InterAction are updated. Additionally, you can choose to import the contact information into the New Contact Review folders from which you can perform any cleansing necessary before rolling the new contacts into the firm list.
- After the contacts have been imported into InterAction, perform any verification, and cleansing necessary. This typically includes all the following:
- Verifying that contacts have complete phone and address information that follow your organization’s standards
- Eliminating any duplicate information from the contacts
- Ensuring that contacts have the appropriate contact types applied
- Profiling contacts for the contact types in which they are included
-
If you loaded the contact information into New Contact Review folders, roll the contact information out into the firm list.
Specifically, move the contact from the New Contact Review folder into the firm list. This can be done by reviewing a Data Change Management ticket if you have set InterAction to create New Contact Review tickets when adding new contacts.
