A new installation of InterAction Web Client provides pages for displaying marketing lists. There are two types of marketing lists:
- A Marketing List (with sponsorship) collects one or more sponsors for each contact added to the list. A sponsor is the professional user who wanted the contact included on the list or the person on whose behalf marketing sends the mailings. Sponsorship is frequently used to determine which users need to sign mailings being sent to the recipients on the list.
- A Marketing List (without sponsorship) is frequently used for events and other lists that don’t require sponsorship. A marketing list without sponsorship stores the contacts on the list, but without the additional sponsor information.
Both kinds of marketing list exist as individual, separate folders at the root level.
All marketing lists that the user has access to read appear on the Marketing Lists page.

Displaying the Contacts on the Marketing List
From the marketing lists page, users can display the list of contacts on any of the lists. This page displays the basic information described in Displaying the Contacts on the List.
For sponsored lists, the preview pane displays both additional sponsors for the contact and any list-specific additional fields. Users can add themselves as additional sponsors. For a non-sponsored list, the preview pane displays just the additional fields.
Users with edit additional fields access rights to the list can edit the additional field values. Note that this is different than the access rights used for working lists.
Pages for Reviewing Sponsorship Information
Sponsored marketing lists have different Show options than other lists:
- All Contacts on This List
- All Contacts Sponsored by Me
- All Contacts Not Sponsored by Me
- My Contacts on this List
- My Contacts Sponsored by Me
- My Contacts Not Sponsored by Me
These let users filter the list in different ways when deciding which contacts they want to add and sponsor. The same Select My Contacts to Add to this List link is also available.
This is useful when sponsorship is used to determine which professionals’ names should appear on mailings.
It can be useful to send a link to one of the marketing list pages to professionals in your organization For example, your Marketing department could send out a link reminding users to add their contacts to the Holiday Card list by a certain date. For details, see Web Client Page URLs and Sending Links by Email to Help Professionals Make the Most of InterAction.
Activities Regarding a Marketing List
Web Client users with sufficient access rights can create activities regarding a marketing list. These must be added from the page for the list.
For more details, see About Folder-Specific and Global Activities.
Creating an Activity Regarding a Marketing List
Adding an activity regarding a marketing list requires starting from the context of the list.
[A] Display the marketing list.
[B] Select the contacts and choose to add an activity.
[C] The Regarding option can be set to the marketing list.
