Note the following requirements for importing a Web Client profile or search:
- The Application Server must be running.
- The Windows applications for InterAction must be configured to connect to your Application Server. You specify the name of your server in InterAction Administrator. For details, see the Administering InterAction guide.
-
You have to select the file to import. The file must be on the Application Server in the Import_Export directory. In a typical installation of the Application Server, this is the following:
C:\Program Files\LexisNexis\InterAction\AppServer\iahome\Import_Export
- You must log on to the InterAction Windows Client as a user with Manage contact types permission.
The following procedures describe how to import Web Client profiles and searches:
Import a Web Client Profile
- Copy the *.IAP file containing the exported profile(s) to your Application Server machine. Put the file in the Import_Export directory.
- Log in to InterAction Windows Client as a user with permission to create contact types.
- The Manage contact types permission is required to export or import Web Client profiles. This is because profiles are typically created in conjunction with contact types.
- This permission is granted using InterAction Administrator. For details, see Give Users Permission to Manage Web Client Searches.
- Choose Tools > Web Client Profiles Manager. InterAction displays a list of existing Web Client Profiles.
-
Choose Import. InterAction displays the Import Profiles dialog box listing all available profile import files.
InterAction looks for profile import files (*.IAP) on the Application Server machine in the Import_Export directory. In a typical installation of the Application Server, this is the following:
C:\Program Files\LexisNexis\InterAction\AppServer\iahome\Import_Export
-
Select the file you want to import and choose OK. InterAction imports the information and displays a confirmation message if successful. If any errors occurred, a dialog box listing them will appear.
The confirmation message indicates how many profiles were added. Remember, a single profile import file can contain any number of profiles.
- Resolve any errors as needed. You may need to manually edit the profile. For details about interpreting the errors, see Correcting Import Errors and Exceptions.
- Choose Close to close the Manage Web Client Profiles dialog box.
Import One or More Web Client Search Forms
- Copy the *.IAS file containing the exported search form(s) to your Application Server machine. Put the file in the Import_Export directory.
- Log in to InterAction Windows Client as a user with permission to create contact types.
- The Manage contact types permission is required to export or import Web Client searches. This is because searches are typically created in conjunction with contact types.
- This permission is granted using InterAction Administrator. For details, see Give Users Permission to Manage Web Client Searches.
- Choose Tools > Web Client Search Forms Manager. InterAction displays a list of existing Web Client search forms.
-
Choose Import. InterAction displays the Import search forms dialog box listing all available search form import files.
InterAction looks for search form import files (*.IAS) on the Application Server machine in the Import_Export directory.
The confirmation message indicates how many search forms were added. Remember, a single search form import file can contain any number of searches.
- Resolve any errors as needed. You may need to manually edit the search form. For details about interpreting the errors, see Correcting Import Errors and Exceptions.
- Choose Close to close the Manage Web Client search forms dialog box.
