A professional end user can have one or more proxies. Proxies are normally administrative assistants or secretaries. In InterAction Web Client, a proxy can act on behalf of the user for whom the person is a proxy.
When a user who is a proxy for someone else logs in to the Web Client, a drop-down list appears on all pages. The proxy can specify who he or she is acting on behalf of . The proxy then has all the same access to the data as the professional.
[A] This drop-down list appears if you are a proxy for at least one user.
[B] You can choose the user on whose behalf you are working from the list. You can be a proxy for multiple users.
[C] If you are not a proxy for anyone else, the list is not available.
When working in the Web Client, the proxy sees everything as if he or she were the person proxied for. For example, assume the user Roger is a proxy for two users. When Roger is working on behalf of himself, he sees his own My Alerts page and contacts. When he is working on behalf of Ed Roberts, he sees Ed’s information and essentially has the same access rights as Ed.
[A] Roger is working on behalf of himself, so he sees his own information.
[B] Now Roger is working on behalf of Ed Roberts, so he sees Ed’s information. All actions he takes at this point are on behalf of Ed.
[C] If Roger selects “Lisa Short” from the All Actions on Behalf of list, the pages would update to show “Lisa Short’s Contacts.”
What Access Does a Proxy Have?
A proxy has the same access as the person for whom he or she are a proxy. The only exception is that the user can mark a contact private to prevent the proxy from viewing or editing it.
Preventing a Proxy from Viewing a Contact
[A] A user can prevent his or her proxy from viewing a contact that is only in his or her list.
Throughout the rest of the Web Client, the proxy can perform any actions that the user can.
Because user contacts are not available in the Windows Client, proxies are not normally used in Window Client.
A professional can have an unlimited number of proxies and a user can be the proxy for an unlimited number of other users.
