The Merge Contacts Using DQS Fields feature offers you the ability to do the following:
- Merge all contact data from multiple contacts into one good contact. This merging is performed using InterAction’s merge logic.
- Merge multiple groups of duplicate contacts at the same time. For example, if you have three versions of Jane Adams and two versions of Bruce Bloom, you can merge all these contacts at the same time into one version of Jane Adams and one version of Bruce Bloom.
- Automatically group and rank duplicate contacts according to duplicate contact group and rank IDs provided on each contact.
- Review the contacts that are merged. When you are reviewing the contacts, you can choose individual contacts to not merge or rearrange the order in which contacts are merged.
Modifying the Selection of Contacts to Merge
Because the groups of duplicate contacts have already been identified using third-party tools, you should not need to modify the grouping or selection of contacts when using the Merge Contacts Using DQS Fields feature.
| To | Do This |
|---|---|
| Add or remove contacts from each group of duplicates. | Use the arrow buttons to remove the currently selected contact from a group or add the currently selected contact to a group (if it is listed in the Contacts that will NOT be merged list.) |
| Change the contact selected as the contact into which other contacts in the group are merged. | Select the radio button next to the contact in the group you want to be the contact into which other contacts in the group are merged. |
| Change the order in which contacts in each group are merged. | Select a contact and drag and drop it higher or lower within the group. |
Merge Contacts
- Log on to InterAction Windows Client as a user with Data Quality Permissions.
Choose Data Quality > Merge Contacts Using DQS Fields.
Select if you want to merge duplicate people or companies and select the folder in which you want to look for duplicates.
Choose Browse to search for the folder in InterAction.
If you are merging both people and companies, merge all the company contacts first because this often impacts the information for people to be merged.
Choose Find Duplicates.
InterAction searches the selected folder for duplicate contacts. If the folder is large, this search may take a few moments.
Review the resulting contacts in the Contacts to Merge list.
To review more details about each contact, select the contact and the contact’s phones and addresses display in the summary area of the dialog box.
