When a user performs a Web Client search, the results are displayed in a search results page that lists the contacts in a grid, with a preview pane for the selected contact at the bottom. Users can review the contacts, select a contact to see preview information, and choose to retrieve more detailed information about a contact if necessary.
Viewing the Results of a Search
The left side of the preview pane always displays basic business card information (one address and several phone numbers). You can choose the information displayed in the right side. There are four options:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Web Client Profile | Displays the fields defined for the summary version of a selected profile. For details about defining the profile summary, see Choosing Items to Include in Summary Profiles. |
| Folder Additional Fields | All additional fields for the specified folder, listed in alphabetical order, along with folder-specific notes. Note that you cannot control the order of the fields, or exclude any of the folder’s fields from the display. If you need more control over the fields displayed, you should create a Web Client profile with the fields and choose that option instead. |
| Firm Notes | Any firm notes for the contact. |
| Display only contact address information | Nothing is displayed on the right-hand side of the preview pane. The standard contact information still displays on the left-hand side. |
The figures below illustrate the different preview pane options.
[A] Preview pane displaying a Web Client profile summary.
[B] Preview pane displaying additional fields for a profile. Note that the fields are displayed in alphabetical order. If you want control over how the fields are displayed, create a profile and use the Web Client Profile option instead.
[C] Preview pane displaying notes. If the contact is in the user’s contact list, that user’s notes are displayed (My Notes). If the contact is in the firm list only, the Firm Notes are displayed.
[D] Preview pane displaying contact data only.
